Context

Bilt makes rent more rewarding by letting members earn points on every payment. Every month on Rent Day, our founder and CEO, Ankur Jain, hosts Rent Free™—a celebrity game show where members can win free rent.

However, we felt it was time to take Rent Free™ beyond the game show. Instead of simply featuring celebrities, we built exclusive Rent Day® Collabs around them. Designing cultural moment that members couldn't experience anywhere else.

We started with A$AP Rocky's Don't Be Dumb album, creating a members-only limited-edition vinyl, including signed copies. From there, we partnered with MrBeast, Anne Hathaway, and Madonna, turning each Rent Day into an exclusive cultural moment with unique experiences for our members.

Opportunity 1: There’s no overarching story for the guest.

When opening the page, there’s a clear concept around Rent Day®, featuring exclusive rewards. However, Guest Benefits sit in between without a spotlight moment for the featured guest or a cohesive narrative that brings this month’s guest story to life.

Opportunity 2: Lack of Guest Exposure

Every month, Bilt invests heavily in Rent Day® Collabs with big guests like A$AP Rocky, MrBeast, Anne Hathaway, and Madonna. But once each collaboration ends, the guest is reduced to a tiny headshot in a list—missing the opportunity to extend their story and the impact of the collaboration.

Opportunity 3: Not fun at all

Since these collaborations are both celebratory and a serious brand play, the experience should feel just as exciting. Right now, it doesn’t feel fun enough for our members.

Center around the guest

When the page opens, we put the guest front and center, connecting the Rent Day® with the featured guest and framing the benefits around them.

Turn our guest list view into a stack of cards

I replaced the list view with a stack of cards. Revealing them one at a time, with a hint of who’s coming next, makes each discovery feel more rewarding.

Craft may requires sometimes, but enjoy the process

Working in code to shape the materiality and motion—giving each card a sense of weight, rhythm, and tactility, so the stack feels as satisfying to move through as it is to discover.

c

Content focused on maximum delight

Given how much we’ve worked with music artists, co-creating special-edition vinyl exclusively for Bilt Members feels like a natural thing.

Rather than making it feel like a traditional e-commerce experience, I think the future of shopping is more content-driven—less about “shopping” and more about creating something fun, engaging, and culturally relevant.

c

FYI, create a product that people would resale on eBay

When you start seeing something resold on eBay, you know it’s become a thing. That kind of organic reach extends beyond our own flywheel and keeps driving growth.
